Most people wait until the first of January to refresh things, but I skipped ahead by a month. I replaced my camera (which failed in November), got back into my daily photo effort, and have rededicated myself to my daily 15000-step goal.

The first photo I took with the new camera was of my keys; they were sitting on the table beside where I sat to open the box as soon as it arrived. While it's a decent photo, I figured I would start this entry with something a bit more festive. These candy canes were destined to participate in my entry into a potluck at work.

Here's a tip: Don't make pudding for a potluck. It's difficult to entice coworkers into trying something goopy. I might have had better success if I'd brought in just the candy canes!

It had been a while since I'd gone for a walk to Point Pleasant Park, so I decided to take advantage of some warm weather to do so. I snagged this photo of the gazebo from the hill behind it.

The Pen-F can pull off a photographic style I have always really liked. I don't care if it's cliché, I think it's cool to have a monochrome photo where one colour remains. There are several available colours the camera can isolate, in three different strengths.

You didn't think I was done, did you? To be honest, I felt a little bad about not selecting my photo of my keys from the first, so I did it again on the fifth. Isolating the blue in the carabiner was a fun experiment.

During the summertime, these yellow posts behind the libraryhold cloth sunshades. As we get closer and closer to winter, they seem to look more and more forlorn.

Here's a closeup of a memory card. Looking at it in this way, I'm thinking it might make for good inspiration for a building; the contacts could be analogous to windows.

One of my colleagues found a piece of art crafted and discarded on a construction site. We took its photo and left it for the next worker to find. I doubt it will make it into our site report, but for me it was a highlight of the inspection!

Despite some efforts, I have been unable to acquire a taste for espresso. On the upside, I have found that espresso cups are just perfect for a nip of nog!

This is another project by the architecture firm where I work, though not one to which I am contributing. I happened to be nearby while attempting to do some gift-shopping. I did not find what I was seeking, but at least I got a shot of the building. It will be Nova Scotia's tallest modern-style mass-timber building.

This is a fig. I have eaten them on occasion before, but this was the first day that I ever purchased one in a grocery store. They are very tasty! I think it is fascinating to live in a time of so much development in the discipline of produce production... Fresh cherries, mangoes, figs; it's remarkable the things which are available now that were rarities when I was a kid.

This image may appear strangely dystopian at first glance, but the setting is actually meant to bring cheer. It's the "Light Maze" at the annual Evergreen Festival, photographed in the daytime.

This is a macro look at my favourite scarf. We are looking at the spot where the edge fringes out.

The finest camera in the world cannot save you if you've got a dirty lens! I didn't notice the awful smudge on this one until I had taken all my photos for the day. This is a shot of the connector end of a blood glucose testing strip.

The Evergreen Festival is meant to be enjoyed at nighttime. I took this photo in the Public Gardens. Alas, the festival is one of the few times that the gardens are open after dark, and even then they only open one gate. I hope the city comes around to the value of keeping the park open late. Regardless, the lights are quite pretty.
