For 2020, I am photographing every day, and posting the best of each day in half-month increments.

This year has seen far fewer dashes out to unexplored places than I was originally expecting. I did find myself out of province in late August, though. This is a hotel room in Oromocto, New Brunswick. Note the object on the bed - the face of modern travel wears a pandemic mask!

This luscious green wall is at the University Of New Bruswick in Fredericton. It's a lovely sight, but not why I made a pilgrimage to its building. Among the three hundred people in my graduating class from high school, one person has become famous: She is Deanna Musgrave, a renowned artist. Two storeys above the green wall she has a painting on public display. It's nearly the same size and just as enthralling. Go see it if you get the chance!

While en route to a segment of my work inspection I spied the top of a through-arch bridge. I did some quick investigating on a map to discover that I was seeing the Burton Bridge. I convinced a coworker to check it out with me after we finished for the day. Perhaps it is an unusual target to pick as a field trip, but for a structural engineer and an architectural technician it was just right.

There are border controls now where New Brunswick and Nova Scotia meet. Both are part of the "Atlantic Bubble" - a free-travel zone mostly isolated from the outside world and the raging pandemic there. I stopped just after passing the checkpoint to snap this shot of the wind farm in the flatlands that forms Nova Scotia's only land border.

Years ago, I went to a property auction and bought this lovely field in the village where my parents live. My plan was to build a house on the hillside overlooking the pasture. Now that I have a house closer to town perhaps it's time to sell the field...

So much can change in four months! It's difficult to predict how things will evolve. Since my sister lives outside the Atlantic Bubble, though, it's unlikely that we'll be able to unite in person this Christmas. Always prepared, I assembled Lego version of my brother, myself, and my sister. At least they can be together...

Most times when I snap a twilight photo I zoom in to capture the opening between the trees. I decided it was time I take a wider shot. The gradation of the sky and the interesting clouds reinforced the choice.
2020 August 29, Saturday
My mother clued me in to the location of a large sunflower patch. I got a bunch of lovely shots of the field as a whole before spying a monarch butterfly flitting around. Thus, you get a much more closely-focused shot. I hear that monarch populations are way down this year, and it's no safe bet that the species will make it into the 2200s. I certainly hope they do.

Wesley is perhaps the most famous dog in Williams Point. He has a fondness for my front porch, the shady spot beneath my neighbour's tree, and also the workshop up the road. I was thinking I should get a picture of a bird to round out this entry when Wesley wandered along. It seemed like a good time for a canine portrait.
