For 2020, I am photographing every day, and posting the best of each day in half-month increments.
A few years ago, my New Year's Resolution was to post a photo on Flickr every day. It was a challenge! I found it tricky to keep on top of the daily postings, particularly when I was travelling, and there were days when I hadn't taken any pictures and posted old material. This year, I am spinning the project around: taking fresh pictures every day and posting in batches. Here's to a year of fun photography!

My year began in Moosomin, Saskatchewan, where I was visiting my sister and her family for Christmas. We had a splendid time. Nearly every day we got out for a walk. We often passed this former municipal building, which is now a law office.

Here is my sister, her son, and her husband. They were happy to have me with them for Christmas... Though perhaps also to get rid of me in the New Year!
Like all mischievous uncles, I encouraged their toddler to face the world bravely and explore. This included places like the top of the sofa, which has become his favourite climbing challenge. My poor brother-in-law is a little less thrilled about the future mountaineer's burgeoning climbing skills.

All good things must come to an end, including my holiday in Moosomin. On January third we hit the road so I could catch my flight in Regina. On the way we passed several grain elevators, including this one at Sinatula.
For the region, the weather was rather balmy for the duration of my visit; it even reached above freezing one day! The roads were clear for the ride back to the airport. The skies behaved, too, and after a dozen bleary hours I completed my Moosomin-Regina-Calgary-Halifax-Antigonish route.
2020 January 04, Saturday
After my smooth, but tiring, travel day, I slept for nearly twelve hours! I did not wander any farther than my parents' kitchen. Luckily, I found their cute nutcracker to photograph.

At the beginning of December 2019 the office where I work closed. Sadly, many of the staff were let go. Those who were kept, myself included, transitioned to working from home. My new office is a corner of my basement. I must say, it has a better view than my old one did!
2020 January 08, Wednesday
We had a snowstorm on the Wednesday. Here's a glimpse of my garden shed once the snow finally stopped falling in the early evening.

Winter is a dark time of year. The upside is that dawn and dusk are more easily in reach than the long, long days of Summer. After all, who wants to get up at five or even four to catch the dawn? Here is a pretty sunrise over my neighbour's house, taken at the very sensible hour of 07:39.
2020 January 09, Thursday
When November hits I always seem to get an artistic urge... Remember that Star Trek kitbash in 2017? This Autumn, I tried my hand at painting miniatures for D&D. I enjoy it, though I still have a long way to come to match the detailing skill of my friend Kris. He is outstanding at painting game figurines. So far I've done two dragons, two Githyanki, and a centaur. Still on my crafting table are a pair of Tortles, a griffon, and a Beholder.
2020 January 11, Saturday
It would be tough to sell my job as stressful, since it mostly consists of me sitting at my computer and answering e-mails or drafting plans. Still, when Saturday comes it sure is nice to dig into my circus drawer and pull out something kinetic to dance away the strain. I'm pretty clumsy with my ribbon poi, but they are fun!
2020 January 13, Monday
Nope, I still haven't painted those Tortles yet! One of these days I'll get around to it...
2020 January 12, Sunday
On days with a freezing rain forecast I have a strong urge to hibernate and dream of Summer! Still, I ended up getting 21,708 steps. There's nothing to combat laziness quite like some dancey music!
2020 January 14, Tuesday
After a few more flakes of snow, the ol' car needed a dust-off before I headed to my weekly adult D&D session (I DM a Tuesday-night party and also a Saturday-morning kids' group).
2020 January 15, Wednesday
During the winter I sometimes feel at a photographic loss. These seems to be nothing but snow! Still, when it's coming down enough to obscure the far side of the harbour, it does isolate the trees nicely.
